Hybrid Auto Repair

Maintenance and the consequences of non-maintence on hybrids are different and linked to the economy and a key factor in its mileage costs. True that overall maintenance on a hybrid is many times less than a conventional vehicle, but lack of maintenance can be costly

A hybrids running largely on their gasoline engines means a hybrid vehicle owner will have to abide to a similar maintenance schedule to fully gasoline-powered vehicles. Oil/filter changes and other routine checks remain important but may be undertaken at longer intervals since the gas engine is relieved by the electric powerplant.

Frequently asked questions at Mahneke Motors :

Question: Can you tell me what is wrong with my car over the phone?
Answer: In most cases we cannot accuratly diagnose your vehicle over the phone. Your car is an extremely complex piece of machinery that requires hands on testing and inspection.
Question: Do you provide loaner cars?
Answer: We do not provide loaner cars, but we do offer a limited shutttle service locally. Additionally, you can choose a rental car. We have special rates available

Question: When are the best times to ask questions or to make an appointment
Answer: We are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., however, mornings and evenings are the busiest times for us as customers drop-off and pick-up their cars. We can spend more time answering your questions in the middle portion of the day.

Question: How often should I have my car serviced?
Answer: It varies from model to model, but as a general rule you should change your oil every 3 - 4 thousand miles and perform the annual recommended factory scheduled maintainence.

Question: The salesman at the dealership I purchased my new car from said that if I have you work on my car, It will void my warranty. Is this true?
Answer: False! That is against Federal Law. The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act allows consumers to have their cars serviced wherever they choose. Always read your warranty to understand what constitutes a covered service item. As long as detailed records are kept (as we do here for all of our customers) and the service intervals are met with quality parts your warranty will never be void.

Question: How do I know when I need a tune up?
Answer: Today's automobiles do not require tune ups in the same way as older vehicles. Automobile manufacturers have set forth, in their recommended maintenance schedules, intervals for replacing spark plugs, PCV valves, Fuel filters etc., while recommending that other items related to engine operation be inspected for proper operation and/or adjustment, such as ignition timing, idle speed and other emission control related devices.

When and only when the maintenance has been performed would a performance problem be addressed to correct any given set of problems. If an operating or performance problem is still present after the maintenance has been performed, an engine analysis would be required.

Therefore, the term "tune up" indicates the need for routine maintenance and should not be associated with poor performance. If your vehicle experiences any operation or performance problems between maintenance intervals, that specific problem should be addressed by performing an engine analysis to isolate that particular problem.
